Jordyn Daws, the 32-year-old Lexington woman who died from hypothermia Wednesday, “had the unique ability to connect to people no matter who they were,” her obituary said.

Daws, born in Somerset, “was the light of her parent’s life who went on to earn degrees in Education and Instructional Design from the University of Kentucky before settling into a career as an Instructional Designer in cyber security,” according to her obituary from Somerset Undertaking Co. & Crematory.

Daws was found dead in the front yard of a home on Lexington Wargrave Walk in the aftermath of Winter Storm Fern. The coroner’s office said she was pronounced dead at 12:45 p.m. from hypothermia due to environmental exposure. The coroner’s office said Daws lived in Lexington. No other details were shared by the coroner’s office.

Daws was one of at least 14 people who have died from Winter Storm Fern, according to Gov. Andy Beshear.

“Jordyn didn’t know a stranger and loved expanding her circle of friends,” her obituary said. “She loved sports, specifically the University of Ky Wildcats and the Philadelphia Eagles. She would tell you her anxiety was born from watching UK sports.“

Daws “was able to take a long-desired trip to Europe in December 2025 and had the adventure of a lifetime. She was already looking forward to the next one,” the obituary said.

From childhood friends to those she met in college or while traveling, Daws, whose nickname was “JoJo,” made every person she met feel like her best friend.

”She also loved her ‘Puppers,’ Momba and Millie more than words can describe: Millie a golden doodle that she brought home after college and Momba who she rescued and adopted from the animal shelter,” the obituary said.

In Daws’ memory and in lieu of flowers, her family is encouraging people to make a donation to a humane society “or better yet, adopt a ‘Pupper.’”

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 3, in the Chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co & Crematory in Somerset with a celebration of life service at 2 pm at the funeral home.
