The city of Lexington and the area planning agency have started a comprehensive plan for Winchester Road, one of the area’s busiest and oldest corridors.

The city and Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s study will look at and evaluate current and future land use patterns, identify opportunities to improve traffic safety, including pedestrian safety, and examine roadway designs and traffic operations. The results of the study will be used to develop a comprehensive plan that will guide future development.

City officials want to hear the public’s input through an online survey, which will remain open until June 20.

The survey includes questions about travel patterns, safety concerns and possible improvements.

Those responses will be used to help identify potential solutions, priorities and future development, city officials said.

The study will continue until the spring of 2027. The online survey can be found at wspengages.com/winchesterroad.
