Yoga, line dancing and happy hours: Gatton Park to host free events in June
To celebrate the first summer season at Gatton Park, a series of free programming has been announced for the month of June.
The schedule of events will be “centered around youth and families, fitness and community,” according to a press release. The schedule includes events for a variety of interests, with offerings for foodies, pet owners, families and more.
“We’re excited to welcome visitors to Gatton Park for our first full summer of free programming,” said park director Donald Miller. “Our series of curated learning and enrichment opportunities will allow children and adults alike to explore music, nature and art, all thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and community partners.”
There will be a mix of single day events, along with recurring scheduled programming. All events will be free of charge, with no reservation required.
For young children and their caregivers, Little Learners will be held every Wednesday in June from 10 to 10:30 a.m. The program combines music, movement and imaginative play in a hands-on environment designed for children ages 5 and younger, according the press release.
Adults looking for fitness opportunities can participate in Tai Chi at the Park every Tuesday evening in June from 6 to 7 p.m., while Pilates at the Park will be offered at the same time every Wednesday evening.
Yoga at the Park will take place every Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m., geared toward yogis of all-levels, focused on strength, mobility and mindfulness.
Throughout the month, visitors can also attend happy hours on select weekdays, featuring food and drink specials from The Boxcar Café with live music from local musicians. That schedule can be found on the park’s website, with the first event taking place on June 3 at 5 p.m.
Several one-day events are also scheduled throughout June.
Discover Dance: Line Dancing & Country Two-Step will be held June 12 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in partnership with Bluegrass Ballroom, giving participants a chance to learn or refine line dancing and two-step.
Mini Makers will take place June 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and will offer families with young children the opportunity to create nature-inspired art projects together.
The month concludes with Paws & Pours, presented by PetVet365 and PetWants, on June 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. The event will feature live music, social activities and pet-focused education for dogs and their owners.
