Where to find freebies and specials in Lexington on National Donut Day

National Donut Day is Friday, June 5, and shops across Lexington have announced specials to celebrate the day.

From local to chain brands, there are a range of deals, including free and discounted doughnuts, and specialty flavors. But across all stores, no deal is guaranteed and will only be available while supplies last. The best way to improve your odds of scoring a doughnut is to show up early.

National Donut Day has been celebrated on the first Friday in June since 1938 as an ode to The Salvation Army Donut Lassies. The “lassies” were women who, during World War I, established field bases in Europe to provide essential resources and baked goods to soldiers, according to Salvation Army history.

The Donut Lassies are credited with popularizing the treat across the nation after the end of the war.

Speedway

Speedway, owned by 7-Eleven Inc., will be offering customers classic glazed doughnuts for 50 cents each for 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards members at 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes stores.

They will keep celebrations going by offering $1 glazed doughnuts until June 24. More information can be found on the 7-Eleven website.

While there are no 7-Eleven or Stripes locations in Lexington, Speedway locations across town are all open 24 hours a day.

Krispy Kreme

Krispy Kreme will have two deals for National Donut Day.

The first allows customers to pre-order starting Wednesday. With the order of any regular-priced dozen doughnuts, you can add an original glazed dozen for just $2.

The second deal is offered only in-store on Friday, where customers can get a free doughnut of their choice, no purchase necessary. The deal limits one doughnut per guest, while supplies last. More details can be found on Krispy Kreme’s website.

Krispy Kreme is open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 2893 Richmond Rd.

Dunkin’

Starting June 1, Dunkin’ locations will be giving away a Dunkin’ tote bag with the purchase of a half dozen doughnuts or more, while supplies last.

On Friday, customers can get a free doughnut with the purchase of any beverage. More information can be found on the Dunkin’ Donuts website.

With five locations in Lexington, all open at 5 a.m. The two stores located at 2213 Versailles Road and 316 E New Circle Road close at 7 p.m. Two other locations at 2304 Norman Lane and 2890 Richmond Service Road close at 8 p.m., and the location at 1306 South Broadway closes at 9 p.m.

OMG Donuts

The Lexington doughnut shop will be offering 10% off any order of a dozen doughnuts this Friday.

OMG Donuts is open from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 3449 Buckhorn Dr.

Parlor Doughnuts

This Friday, customers nationwide can get a free French toast layered doughnut with any purchase in-store.

Parlor Doughnuts is open from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 630 Euclid Ave. Suite 150.

North Lime Coffee & Doughnut

With two locations in Lexington, the stores will be offering a menu of specialty doughnuts the week of June 1-7. On Friday, they will be giving away free doughnuts, $12 for a dozen doughnuts, along with Golden Dozen tickets for a free dozen and flavor specials.

Flavor specials differ by store but include options like espresso cheesecake, funnel cake, blueberry lavender, and both vegan and gluten-free choices as well.

Locations are open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 101 W Loudon Ave. Suite 160 and 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 3101 Clays Mill Road #300a.

Jeff’s Donut

The 24-hour doughnut shop will be offering two deals starting at midnight on Friday. All loyalty members will gain double points on any purchase, and $60 e-gift cards will be available at a discounted $50.

Jeff’s Donuts is located at 1080 South Broadway and open 24 hours a day.

Doughdaddy’s Doughnuts

On Friday, Doughdaddy’s will be offering $2 off any order of a dozen doughnuts and any-sized coffee beverage for 99 cents. More details can be found on the store’s Facebook page.

The store is open 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 3325 Lexington Rd. in Versailles.

Spalding’s Bakery

The 97-year-old Lexington bakery will be baking extra inventory in preparation for Friday, sold at regular pricing. It’s your chance to grab some of the highly-coveted donuts.

Located at 760 Winchester Road, the store will be open 6:30 a.m. to noon Friday.
