Part of Winchester Road shut down after vehicle crashes into adult video store

A vehicle that crashed into a building on Winchester Road shut down traffic on the major Lexington artery Tuesday afternoon.

A driver was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening after the collision into the building at 950 Winchester Road at 3:27 p.m., according to the Lexington Fire Department.

That is the address of the Video Max Adult Superstore.

All lanes of outbound Winchester Road were closed between Liberty Road and East Loudon Avenue, as was the left inbound lane, according to Lexwrecks, the social media account of the Lexington Traffic Management Center. Traffic was being diverted onto Liberty Road.

All lanes had reopened as of 4:55 p.m., according to Lexwrecks.

The collision caused “significant damage” to the building, said Battalion Chief Derek Roberts, of the Lexington Fire Department.
