The Urban County Planning Commission unanimously approved a zone change for an assisted living center or nursing home in the Meadowthorpe neighborhood.

The commission voted 8-0 during a meeting Thursday to approve the zone change from a wholesale and warehouse business zone, a B-4 zone, to a neighborhood business, a B-1 zone, for approximately 3.47 acres at 1447 Antique Drive.

Antique Drive is an access road behind the Meadowthorpe shopping center. Solomon Van Meter, the developer, has proposed building a 30-bed assisted living center or nursing home on the property. The lot is currently vacant.
