Traffic is expected to be congested near Rupp Arena about 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, for the 7 p.m. University of Kentucky basketball game against Hartford and Jan. 2 for a 3:30 p.m. game against Louisville.


South Limestone Project Update: The intersection of Maxwell Street and South Limestone is now open. South Limestone remains closed to thru traffic from Avenue of Champions to Vine Street. Northbound motorists on Nicholasville Road/Limestone who normally use Limestone to commute downtown should follow the detour signs that identify a detour at Virginia Avenue to South Broadway. Westbound motorists on Euclid/Avenue of Champions can take Martin Luther King Blvd. to Main Street. Northbound motorists should plan on delays. Lanes of South Limestone between University Avenue and Leader Avenue will be blocked as needed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday, Jan. 15 for construction of an overhead pedway. Traffic will be shifted as needed.


The right inbound lane of West Main Street will be blocked between Cox and Jefferson streets and the left-turn lane of Newtown Pike will be blocked approaching West Main Street 24 hours a day through Thursday for utility work.


Highland Park Drive will be blocked as needed between Marcellus Drive and Carneal Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Thursday, Dec. 31, for utility work.

Chantilly Street will be closed between Deauville and Cambridge drives 24 hours a day through Thursday.

A portion of Saunier Street will be blocked or closed as needed between West Short and West Second streets, 24 hours a day, thru July 30 for construction at St. Paul Catholic Church.

Rose Street will be closed as needed between Euclid Avenue and the end of the street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Jan. 11 for utility work. Night hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., if needed.

Leader Avenue will be closed between South Limestone and Press Avenue 24 hours a day through Jan. 29 for construction of UK's Pharmacy Building.
