Coroner's office awaits toxicology reports on former Blue Grass Airport director

The Fayette County Coroner's office is awaiting toxicology results from an autopsy before announcing the cause of Michael Gobb's death.

Gobb, the former executive director of Lexington's Blue Grass Airport, was found at his home on Tates Creek Road about 4 p.m. Wednesday, and was pronounced dead shortly before 5 p.m., according to a news release from the coroner's office Thursday afternoon.

There was no indication of foul play, the coroner's office said.

Gobb was found by his employer, businessman Alan Stein, who went to Gobb's home after he failed to show up for some business meetings Wednesday morning.

The Blue Grass Airport board forced Gobb to resign in January 2009, after reports were raised about excessive spending. Other airport executives also resigned.

Gobb ultimately was sentenced to five years in prison on theft by deception charges, but was placed on probation.
