Fayette County Health Department: Closed Thursday.
Government: City and state offices closed Thursday and Friday.

Federal offices closed Thursday.
Trash collection: Residents who normally receive Thursday pick-up will be serviced Wednesday before the holiday. No collections will be made Thanksgiving Day. Friday collections will be made as usual. (There is no residential curbside recyling pickup this week due to wind damage at the city recycling center.)
The Lexington Recycling Center, 360 Thompson Road, and Haley Pike Waste Management facility, 4216 Hedger Lane, will be closed Thursday. On Friday, residents may drop off recyclables at the recycling center.
Libraries: Closed Thursday.
Lextran: Sunday schedule.
Mail: No delivery Thursday.Circuit court: Closed Thursday and Friday.
District court: No court proceedings Thursday and Friday
Herald-Leader business offices: Closed Thursday.
Free Thanksgiving dinners
Thanksgiving Dinner for those in need. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 27. Malone’s and Sal’s, Lansdowne Shoppes, 3373 Tates Creek Rd., Lexington. (859) 977-2606 to make arrangements to attend.
Traditional turkey dinner, catered by Lundy’s Catering, for individuals and families in need. Noon-1 p.m. Nov. 27. The Salvation Army, 736 W. Main Street, Lexington. Reservations not required.
Faith & Community Thanksgiving Day Meal. 5-6:30 p.m. Nov. 27. Central Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 205 East Short St., Lexington. No ID or reservation needed. Volunteers needed 4-7 p.m. to help serve food and distribute clothing. Children are welcome to serve with their families.
