Holiday closings; free Thanksgiving meal information
Here is how Lexington services are affected by the Thanksgiving Day holiday:
Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government offices: Closed Thursday and Friday.
Lexington Recycling Center, Electronic Recycling Center and Haley Pike Waste Management Facility: Closed Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
City trash collection: Those who normally receive residential pick-up on Thursday or Friday will receive their service on Wednesday. Learn more at Lexingtonky.gov.
Libraries: Closed Thursday.
Lextran: Reduced Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day. If you are riding to Sal’s Thanksgiving event, utilize Route 3. Rides are free on Thanksgiving Day.
Mail: No delivery Thursday.
Circuit court: Closed Thursday and Friday.
District court: No court proceedings Thursday and Friday.
Herald-Leader business offices: Closed Thursday. For delivery issues, call 1-800-999-8881.
Free Thanksgiving meals
Community Thanksgiving Dinner. 4:30-7 p.m., Nov. 25. Broadway Christian Church, 187 N. Broadway. Reservations not required.
Thanksgiving Dinner for those in need. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 26. Malone’s and Sal’s, Lansdowne Shoppes, 3373 Tates Creek Rd., Lexington. (859) 977-2612 to make arrangements to attend.
Traditional turkey dinner, catered by Lundy’s Catering, for individuals and families in need. Noon-1:30 p.m. Nov. 26. The Salvation Army, 736 W. Main Street, Lexington. Reservations not required.
Faith & Community Thanksgiving Day Meal. 5-6:30 p.m. Nov. 26. Central Christian Church Fellowship Hall, 205 East Short St., Lexington. No ID or reservation needed.
