Two people died and a third was seriously injured when two pickup trucks crashed Wednesday on outbound Versailles Road near Keeneland, according to the Fayette County coroner.

Joseph Beemer, 76, and Cynthia Beemer, 73, died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital shortly after the crash, according to the coroner’s office. The couple lived in Paducah.

The wreck occurred about 11 a.m. Joseph Beemer died at 11:58 a.m. and Cynthia Beemer died at 12:21 p.m.

Potential charges are pending against the other driver in the crash, according to the coroner’s office. The injured driver’s identity had not been released.

Autopsies will be performed by the state medical examiner, according to the coroner’s office.

One or more lanes of inbound and outbound Versailles Road were closed intermittently for several hours after the crash. Outbound traffic was diverted at Man o’ War.
