Vranicar, Whitley and Craven awarded rank of Eagle Scout

The following have been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank a Boy Scout can attain:

▪ Nathan John Vranicar, 18, of Lexington, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on Nov. 28. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 73, sponsored by Centenary United Methodist Church. Nathan is a freshman at Belmont University and is the son of Dr. Mark and Janice Vranicar. For his Eagle Scout project, Nathan restored a garden and walking path at McConnell Springs Nature Center.

▪ Austin M. Whitley, 16, of Lexington, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on Sept. 16. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 73, sponsored by Centenary United Methodist Church. Austin is a junior at Lafayette High School and is the son of Mitch and Tammy Whitley. For his project, Austin restored a wetland area at Hisle Park in Lexington.

▪ Brian Jackson Craven, 17, of Georgetown, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on Nov. 28. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 73, sponsored by Centenary United Methodist Church. Brian is a senior at Sayre School and is the son of Harold and Regina Craven. For his project, Brian planned, managed and built a wheelchair ramp at The Villa at Chevy Chase to allow patrons access to an outdoor courtyard.
