One driver killed in three-vehicle crash on Lane Allen Drive
The man killed in a crash early Thursday on Lane Allen Drive has been identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.
Jimmy L. Jordan, 59, died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
Lexington police Sgt. Ann Welch said a Toyota car driven by Jordan collided head-on with a pickup truck as part of a three-car crash.
Welch said the pickup was traveling on Lane Allen Drive from Harrodsburg Road in the left lane, which becomes a left-turn lane. A minivan was in the right through lane, traveling in the same direction. Welch said the truck driver sped up and tried to move into the minivan’s lane, causing the minivan to swerve off the right side of Lane Allen and hit a business sign.
The truck then lost control and swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with the Toyota.
The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, and the occupants of the minivan were unharmed, police said.
Welch said the collision reconstruction unit is investigating.
