Fire damages Lexington house; one person sent to hospital

A family was displaced and a woman was taken to a hospital Thursday afternoon when a fire severely damaged a home on Glass Avenue.

When Lexington firefighters arrived, all of the residents were out of the house, Battalion Chief Todd Samuelson said. A woman with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The fire was put out quickly, but the damage forced the family to find somewhere else to stay, Samuelson said. It’s unclear when the family will be able to move back in.

The house didn’t have fire alarms, but 3-year-old Sesu Namegable yelled “fire” repeatedly, waking the family, Samuelson said.

Glass Avenue is off Winchester Road inside New Circle Road.
