Escaped inmate is returned to Fayette County jail

An escaped Fayette County jail inmate is back in jail after more than a month on the lam.

Johnathan Wayne Howard was allowed out of jail to attend a funeral, but he didn’t return Dec. 3.

He was captured Tuesday night by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.

Howard was originally held on a charge of failure to appear and five counts of theft. He faces new charges including receiving stolen property, theft and escape.
