Fire severely damages Lexington mobile home
A man had to find another place to stay Tuesday night after a fire rendered his mobile home off of East New Circle Road a total loss.
The man’s cat woke him up sometime after 9 p.m. because it sensed the fire, Battalion Chief Todd Samuelson said.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly, but the home sustained significant damage throughout, Samuelson said. The man living there could not stay in the home, so he was planning to stay with a son in Louisville on Tuesday night.
The cause was not immediately determined, but most of the fire was in the rear of the home, Samuelson said.
The home did not have smoke detectors, Samuelson said. The fire department is installing smoke detectors for free to those who call 859-231-5662 and make an appointment.
