Knife-wielding man robs Thorntons store, gets away with cash
A man with a knife robbed a Thorntons store early Monday, getting away with cash, Lexington police said.
The robbery occurred just after 7 a.m., police said. The gas station and convenience store is at 2300 Woodhill Drive. The robber ran toward Osage Court, police said.
Dozens of commuters who had stopped for doughnuts or gas were turned away. A hastily posted sign on the door was posted by employees about 7:15 a.m. saying the store was closed “due to an emergency.”
The robber was a white man about 6 feet tall and 174 pounds, wearing a dark-green hoodie and jeans, police said.
Combs said police get robbery calls at all times of the day. The time of day a robbery occurs has more to do with how a robber gets away, he said.
Police haven’t determined whether surveillance is available. No injuries were reported.
