Woman dragged into car; Lexington man charged with kidnapping

About an hour after a Lexington man dragged a woman into his red 2015 Chevrolet by her clothing, he was arrested on a kidnapping charge, according to police.

The woman told police that John Jarrett held a tool to her neck, choked her and threatened multiple times to kill her and refused to let her out of the vehicle, according to court records.

The attack happened about 9:32 p.m. Wednesday in the 400 block of Chapman Court, which is between Tates Creek Road and Lansdowne Drive, outside of New Circle Road.

The woman’s feet were hanging out of a passenger window as Jarrett sped away, according to court records. She told police she tried to contact them and other friends on her phone before it was taken away from her.

Jarrett and the woman knew each other, said police Sgt. Ann Welch.

Police were called by someone who witnessed the woman get pulled into the car, Welch said. Jarrett’s car, and the alleged victim, were located by police in the intersection of Man o’ War Boulevard and Alumni Drive at 10:29 p.m., she said.

In addition to kidnapping, Jarrett, 26, was charged withwanton endangerment. Jarrett is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
