Two armed men rob Lexington auto parts store

Two armed men wearing masks held up a Lexington auto parts store full of employees just before 10 a.m. Thursday.

The robbers, brandishing handguns, entered Blue Grass Auto Parts on East Seventh Street and demanded cash, police Lt. Clay Combs said.

The men, wearing black clothing, gloves and masks, took at least one employee to a back room of the store where cash was stored, Combs said. The employee was “shaken up” when she spoke to police, he said.

Cash in hand, the duo ran toward Chestnut Street. A police tracking dog picked up the trail, leading investigators to an area behind a home about a couple blocks away before the trail went cold, Combs said.

Investigators have pulled surveillance video from the store to review.

Anyone with information is asked to submit tips to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.
