League of Women Voters to present Patty Griffin on Saturday at Singletary Center
The League of Women Voters of Lexington will team up with recording artist Patty Griffin and touring mates Sara Watkins and Anais Mitchell to help empower voters at a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Singletary Center for the Arts. The event is part of a 39-city tour.
At the concert, league volunteers will help fans get election information, including how to update voter registration, find local candidate and voting information, and learn about getting involved in the league's work to engage voters nationwide.
“I am hoping with this tour to bang the drum about our democracy, about our communities, and even about our neighbors down the street,” Griffin said.
“With our presidential primary coming up on May 17, now is the time for us to take advantage of any and all opportunities to talk with voters about how much their voice matters, help our neighbors make sure their voter registration is up-to-date and get them the information they need to cast a vote,” said Tammy Fagley, president of the Lexington league.
