Two charged in Sunday robbery of woman at Lexington church
Two men are in a Scott County jail after police say they robbed a woman outside a Lexington Baptist church just before 10 a.m. Sunday.
The woman told police she had been stopped by one of the men in the parking lot of Cornerstone Baptist Church at 4451 Winchester Road, and he offered to help her carry some items from her car, according to a release from Lexington police.
When the woman declined help, she said the man, with a knife in hand, demanded her purse.
The robber got into a car driven by another man, and the two were spotted in Scott County.
Robert Schultz, 37, and Harvey Smith, 48, were charged with first-degree robbery after being stopped for traffic violations in Scott County, according to a release from Lexington police.
Schultz and Smith were lodged in the Scott County Detention Center.
