Crime of the Week
This week’s Crime of the Week is a social media scam. Starting this year, several Lexington residents have told police that they were solicited on social media in a scam to make quick money. The victims provided their account information. The thief or thieves deposited counterfeit checks into the victims’ accounts to inflate the balance, then quickly withdrew money before the banks confirmed the checks were fraudulent. The suspect is driving a white Nissan with Florida tags.
Bluegrass Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the solving of this crime.
Suspect of the Week
The Suspect of the Week this week, Eddie Lee Jones, is wanted on charges of parole violation. Additional charges are pending in felony cases. Jones, 20, is described as 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds.
Police say Jones in the past has been charged with trafficking narcotics, fleeing from police, resisting arrest, and a previous parole violation.
Anyone with information that could lead to the apprehension of Jones is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (859) 253-2020 or toll-free at 1-877-970-2020. To place a free call on your AT&T cellphone, press *2020.
