Kentucky’s first Vans store opening this week
It might get a little easier for Kentuckians to get Twitter-famous this week.
Vans: Off the Wall opens Thursday in the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass in Simpsonville.
The outlet store makes it the only brick-and-mortar Vans in the state, according to the company’s website. Other stores in Kentucky are authorized to sell Vans products.
Vans, famous for skateboarding apparel and shoes, was founded 50 years ago in Southern California. A tweet that a Southern California teen sent about his friend Daniel’s choice of Vans footwear went viral last month. The tweet features a 30-second video of Daniel Lara, a high school student in California and his new Vans shoes.

Outlet Shoppes general manager Dan Davilla said in a news release that the addition of Vans would help attract “today’s youth market.”
The store will be near the recently opened Johnny Rockets.
