Two who died in apparent murder-suicide in Pikeville were from Northern Kentucky

Two men who died last week in Pikeville in an apparent murder-suicide were from Northern Kentucky, according to WLWT, a Cincinnati television station.

They were identified as Nicholas Hopkins, 36, of Florence, and Travis Thompson, 22, of Independence.

Authorities who had been asked to check on the men found them dead in an apartment on Main Street on Thursday night. Both had been shot.

Police have not released details about the deaths.

One of the men reportedly was a student at the University of Pikeville.
