A crew from Dave Leonard Tree Specialists cut down and removed a diseased hackberry tree Monday from Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate, in Lexington. Jim Clark, Ashland’s executive director, said the tree had significant root rot. The hackberry, which was 75 feet tall, posed a hazard because of the extent of the rot, and the height of the tree and its proximity to buildings.
