Versailles will hold special meeting for rezoning, annexation

Versailles City Council will have a special meeting at 11 a.m. Thursday to give first reading to an ordinance to annex and rezone property for a new baking plant.

The city wants to annex and rezone nearly 67 acres on Big Sink Pike for More Than a Bakery LLC, a plant that is projected to eventually employ more than 300 people. The company will make cookies, snack crackers and specialty gourmet crackers.

The Versailles-Midway-Woodford County Planning Commission had recommended rezoning the property from agricultural to light industrial at its March 10 meeting. The council will meet at city hall, 196 South Main Street in Versailles.
