Monday

Take yourself out to the ball game

But only if you have tickets because the Cincinnati Reds’ season opener against the Philadelphia Phillies is sold out. If you don’t have tickets, you can watch at 4:10 p.m. on FS Ohio.

 

Thursday

Thursday Night Live starts seven-month run

Thursday Night Live, the weekly downtown series of free music plus food and drink vendors, kicks off its 21st season with The Swells. Through Aug. 25, TNL’s hours are 4:30 to 9 p.m., then 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. through Oct. 13. It’s at Cheapside Park, Main Street and Cheapside. (Downtownlex.com)

 

Legends opening day

Opening night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark includes fireworks; Alex Poythress throwing out the first pitch and signing autographs; Bark in the Park, when fans are welcome to bring their dogs to the game; and Thirsty Thursday, with $1 draft beer and Pepsi products until the seventh inning. TGIFriday

Keeneland is back!

Keeneland’s Spring Meet starts, continuing through April 29. Gates open at 11 a.m., and the first race is at 1:05 p.m. No racing Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission is $5, free for ages 12 and younger. Sixteen days of racing are highlighted by the $1 million Toyota Blue Grass Stakes on April 9. (Keeneland.com)

 

Food Truck Friday

The best of area food trucks will gather from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lexington Herald-Leader front parking lot at 100 Midland Avenue. Upcoming dates are June 10, Aug. 12 and Oct. 14.

 

Saturday

Take time to plant a tree

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., volunteers will gather at the Deep Springs Planting Area, 1960 Bryan Station Road, for the 18th Reforest the Bluegrass. The mission: re-create streamside forests once native to the inner Bluegrass region. Register online at Bit.ly/1poDdPd. Volunteers will receive free lunch, tree-planting training and a T-shirt.

 

View the night sky at Raven Run

The Bluegrass Amateur Astronomy Club sets-up several Dobsonian and refractor telescopes for visitors to view binary stars, nebula and planets at Raven Run Nature Sanctuary, 3885 Raven Run Way. You may bring you own telescope for the two-hour event. Bring a flashlight or headlamp. This program is weather-dependent, so call the park beforehand. (859-272-6105; Ravenrun.org)
