A man has been arrested and charged with murder for allegedly using a hammer to kill his twin brother in Laurel County.

Anthony J. Johnson, 30, of London was found dead Tuesday afternoon in the back bedroom of his home on Robinson Creek Road, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said.

Johnson had head trauma and his death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy Wednesday, Sheriff’s Deputy Gilbert Acciardo said.

Anthony’s twin brother, Antonio Johnson, was charged Wednesday with murder in his brother’s death, Acciardo said. Antonio Johnson has since told police he didn’t kill his brother.

Antonio Johnson was the only person in the home at the time of his brother’s death, Acciardo said. Antonio Johnson and one other man lived in the Robinson Creek Road home with Anthony Johnson.

Detectives recovered the suspected murder weapon, a hammer, from the home, the sheriff’s office said.

The investigation is ongoing and the motive in the case is not yet known, Acciardo said. Police are still waiting on a final autopsy report.

Antonio Johnson was arrested Tuesday on an unrelated warrant for charges related to vehicle violations and a contempt of court charge, according to the Laurel County Correctional Center website. He was still in jail Wednesday when he was charged with murder.
