Keeneland prepares for spring meet
Final preparations were underway Wednesday for the Keeneland Spring Race Meet that starts Friday and runs through April 29.
Horses used the track for workouts while some fans watched. Employees polished and cleaned.
Gates open at 11 a.m. daily (no racing on Monday or Tuesday). First post usually occurs at 1:05 p.m.
The second day of the meet features some of the track’s biggest races, including the $1 million Toyota Blue Grass Stakes and Central Bank Ashland Stakes. First post Saturday is at 12:35 p.m.
The 92nd running of the Blue Grass Stakes is about as wide open as any Kentucky Derby prep race has been this season.
Cathryn Sophia is a favorite in the Grade I, Kentucky Oaks prep Ashland Stakes for 3-year-old fillies.
