Man dies after crash on Old Richmond Road

A man died Friday afternoon after a crash on Old Richmond Road at Delong Road.

Police and paramedics were called to the crash at 2:44 p.m., police Lt. Matthew Greathouse said. They arrived to find that a car had pulled off Delong Road into the path of a pickup truck traveling outbound on Old Richmond Road.

William Hamilton, 76, who was driving the car, died of his injuries at 3:48 p.m. at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, the Fayette County coroner’s office said.

There is a stop sign for cars entering Old Richmond Road from Delong Road, and the collision reconstruction unit is investigating whether the car failed to stop or whether weather conditions might have been a factor in the crash, Greathouse said.

The driver of the pickup was also taken to a local hospital, although his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening, Greathouse said.
