God’s Pantry Food Bank seeks more seniors to serve
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program in Fayette County, through God’s Pantry Food Bank, has increased its senior service and is looking for eligible seniors to apply. To be eligible, participants must have a monthly income significantly below the poverty level.
The program improves the health of people age 60 and older by supplementing their diets with nutritious foods such as juice, cereal, milk, pasta or rice, peanut butter, canned meat, canned fruits and vegetables, and fresh produce. The retail value of each box is about $65.
Those interested in applying should come to Central Christian Church annex building at 210 Corral Street from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
To apply, bring an income letter for each member of the household who earns an income. Social Security Award letters are preferred.
Through this USDA program, the food bank is able to serve more than 10,000 clients each month in 50 Kentucky counties.
