Paint Lick man arrested after trying to eat motel’s mulch
Cleaning staff at a motel off Ky. 770 in London had their hands full Tuesday night.
The motel reported that an intoxicated man was trying to eat mulch from the landscaping about 7:20 p.m., according to the Laurel County sheriff’s office.
Police said they found Johnnie Wayne Hurt, 38, of Paint Lick in a “destroyed” room with a mattress against a wall and dresser drawers strewn about the floor. Hurt appeared to police to be under the influence.
Hurt was already wanted for not reporting for a court-ordered drug test on a possession charge in Lincoln County, police said. New charges, including public intoxication, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, were added by police.
Hurt was taken to the Laurel County jail.
