Tuesday

Time to sign up for a summer camp

Online registration begins at noon at Parks.lexingtonky.gov for Lexington Parks and Recreation summer camps, continuing until 8 a.m. Thursday. Walk-in registration will follow, from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, at Dunbar Community Center, 545 North Upper Street. Online registration for any remaining slots will reopen at 5 p.m. Thursday. To register online, households must be in the Parks and Recreation system. to to Lexingtonky.gov/newuser to obtain a user ID and password. Returning users are encouraged to update household information before Thursday. Online registration is not available for ESP or REAL camps.

 

Wednesday

Shed light on violence

Take Back the Night, a march and rally to end interpersonal violence, starts at 4:30 p.m., with participants walking from two locations — Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza, 120 North Limestone, and The 90, 400 Hilltop Avenue, on the University of Kentucky campus — to the Memorial Hall amphitheater at 610 South Linestone. The rally begins at 5 and will feature a speak-out session to support survivors and a chance to participate in a #ConsentCulture Pledge. (Takebackthenightlex.wordpress.com)

Let the games begin

The Lexicon Gaming Convention, a meeting of board and card game enthusiasts, is Friday through Sunday at Clarion Hotel and Convention Center, 1950 Newtown Pike. ($10-$40; Lexicongaming.com)

Is your costume ready?

If there’s one thing you can count on from the Beaux Arts Ball, it’s the crazy costumes. The annual event, which raises money for local charities, starts at 9 p.m. at Manchester Music Hall, 899 Manchester Street. ($20; Beaux-arts-ball.org)

 

Honey, did you just hear a loud boom?

That must be Thunder Over Louisville, the official start of the Kentucky Derby Festival. The largest annual fireworks display in North America will take place at Waterfront Park in downtown Louisville. The air show is at 3 p.m., and the fireworks begin at 9. (Thunderoverlouisville.org)

James Taylor stops by
