Lexington man is charged with torturing, killing small dog
A Lexington man threw a small dog into a pond and then struck it with a broom repeatedly Sunday night, Lexington police said. The dog died.
Michael B. Hawkins, 30, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at his home on the 400 block of Whitfield Drive, according to court records. Hawkins was charged with a felony charge of torturing a dog to serious physical injury or death.
Information about the breed and ownership of the dog was not available in court documents.
