Hazardous waste collection set for Saturday
Lexington will host a free household hazardous waste collection event from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 1631 Old Frankfort Pike.
Latex paint and electronics will be accepted. For a list of other acceptable items, go to Lexingtonky.gov/hhwevent. The event is for Fayette County residents only, and waste from businesses will not be accepted.
Electronics can also be left at the Electronic Recycling Center, 1306 Versailles Road, which is open six days a week. Fayette County residents can drop off fluorescent tubes and televisions, radios, cellphones and computers at no cost. A list of other acceptable items, along with center hours, can be found at Lexingtonky.gov/ecycle.
Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, 451 Southland Drive, also accepts latex paint from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. ReStore recycles the paint into new colors, which it sells.
The entrance to the event will be via Jimmie Campbell Drive. Residents are asked not to arrive earlier than 8:30 a.m., as the contractor and city crews will not be able to service anyone before the start time.
