Motorcyclist killed, another injured in crash on Old Richmond Road
One motorcyclist died and another was injured in a collision with a pickup truck on Old Richmond Road on Tuesday night.
Five motorcycles were traveling north together when the southbound pickup truck went into the northbound lane and collided with two of the motorcycles between Grimes Mill and Cleveland Roads at 7:30 p.m., Lexington police Lt. Jackie Newman said.
Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said the motorcyclist who died was thought to have been wearing a helmet. He was thrown off the motorcycle, and then the motorcycle burst into flames, he said. Ginn did not identify the man because his family had not yet been notified.
Newman said the pickup truck driver and the second motorcyclist, both men, sustained minor injuries. They were taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
Newman said police were investigating to determine what might have caused the crash.
