Meet author Alane Adams in Lexington this week

Transmedia author and literacy advocate Alane Adams is turning Lexington into a live game board by participating in “Battlekasting for Literacy,” a nationwide campaign that aims to bridge the gap between gaming and literacy.

Adams will tour Lexington in a series of library and school events to present BattleKasters, alongside her first book in The Legends of Orkney series, The Red Sun and her award-winning picture-book series The Coal Thief and The Egg Thief. This venture will allow kids and adults to interact with characters from The Legends of Orkney book series.

“BattleKasting for Literacy” kicks off with a reception at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lexington Public Library’s Central Branch.

“BattleKasters is a fun, digital scavenger hunt with spell-casting adventures that brings kids into a magical realm and inspires them to read,” Adams said.

Meet Adams, win prizes and swordfight with The Legends of Orkney’s main character, Brunin, the giant bear, at:
