Lex-Care: Senior with medical issues needs $500 for rent
Jennifer Garland, a social worker with the Lexington Senior Center, is requesting $500 to help a senior pay her rent.
Medical conditions have prevented the client from working full-time recently. She has had breast cancer, knee replacement surgery and her gallbladder removed. She is working part-time and has applied for disability. She is scheduled for a second knee replacement surgery, after which she hopes to return to work full-time. She has never requested assistance before.
Union worker needs $500 to pay rent
Danielle Gilchrist, with Community Action, is requesting $500 to help a client pay rent. The client works for a union that has a contract with Trane. The union went on strike, so the client only receives $200 a week, less than what he needs to meet his monthly expenses. Once the strike ends, he will return to his normal schedule and income.
