Lexington police investigate two overnight armed robberies
Armed men successfully stole cash from victims in two places overnight, Lexington police said.
A man walking along Appian Way near Armstrong Mill Road about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday turned around to see a man holding a handgun, police spokeswoman Brenna Angel said.
The armed man — about 5-foot-8, medium build, with short hair and 25 to 30 years old — demanded the pedestrian’s wallet and then ran, police said.
Twenty minutes later, a man wearing a Mardi Gras mask and a black hoodie with gray stripes walked into the Speedway gas station at 2301 Paris Pike. The masked man didn’t speak, Angel said.
The bandit displayed a handgun and gestured for the clerk to give him money from the cash register, police said. He ran toward Rogers Road.
Police are investigating. Anyone with information can send information anonymously to BluegrassCrimeStoppers or text “lexpd” and a tip to 274637.
