Kentuckians tee it up in nation’s top tournament
Four golfers with Kentucky ties will tee off in the U.S. Open through Sunday. PGA tour players J.B. Holmes (UK, Taylor Co.) and Justin Thomas (St. Xavier) will be joined by qualifiers Kent Bulle (Glasgow High School) and Derek Fathauer (U of L). Crowning a state baseball champ
The Rawlings/KHSAA State Baseball Tournament wraps up at Whitaker Bank Ballpark with the semifinals on Friday and the Championship on Saturday. St. Xavier will take on McCracken County and Bullitt East will face Campbell County in the semis at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively.

Clean up the Kentucky River
Help start the summer with a clean environment at the 25th annual Kentucky River Clean Sweep. Volunteers will collect trash and debris along the 12 miles of river in Fayette County, from the Clays Ferry boat dock to the Valley View Ferry dock, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Volunteers should gather at the Clays Ferry dock off Ky. 25 under the Interstate 75 overpass. They’ll receive free breakfast and lunch, a T-shirt and a chance to win prizes. Register at Riversweep2016.eventbrite.com.

Beer, Bourbon and Bacon Garden Party
Yep, you read that right.The party runs from 1-4 p.m. at Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate, 120 Sycamore Rd. For $45 you will get to sample beer and bourbon cocktails and an assortment of Bacon-infused edibles. There will also be live music. (Thebourbonsocial.com)
