A sheriff’s deputy who arrested Derek Willis early Saturday for public intoxication had found him passed out and lying in a street, according to the arrest report.
Willis was found about 4:30 a.m., lying outside the driver’s side of a car on Mountain Laurel Way in Union, according to the arrest report from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
The report said a “strong odor associated with alcohol” was coming from Willis and his car. The deputy woke Willis and reported that when asked where he was, Willis could only say that he was in Northern Kentucky. Willis told the deputy he’d had “a lot” to drink. The deputy said Willis was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech, according to the report.
The report called Willis “a danger to himself and others.”
