Car pinned under U-turning semi on Versailles Road; victim charged with DUI
A man was seriously injured Tuesday when a crash left his car wedged under a tractor-trailer.
The driver of the tractor trailer made a U-turn on Versailles Road after finding out that a ramp onto New Circle Road was closed for construction, according to Lexington police. Witnesses told investigators that a blue Lexus was speeding outbound on Versailles Road and didn’t brake or turn before the car collided with the tractor-trailer.
Firefighters had to remove the car’s driver, Adrian P. Garcia, 34, of Lexington, according to police. He was taken to a local hospital with significant injuries.
According to police, a marijuana pipe was found in Garcia’s pocket at the hospital. He has been charged with driving while under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m., and the road reopened at 5 a.m., according to police.
