Wife of political analyst injured in bike accident
Kentucky political analyst Bob Babbage said in a Facebook post Thursday afternoon that his wife, Laura, was hurt in a bike accident in France, and that he and family members were traveling there to be with her.
In the post, Bob Babbage said she suffered a head injury and that her condition is serious but stable. Laura Babbage’s injury came during a bike ride in conjunction with the Tour de France, he said.
Laura Babbage earned her undergraduate degree in nursing from EKU, a master’s degree from the UK Patterson School in International Business and Diplomacy, and a master’s of divinity degree from Lexington Theological Seminary.
Upon completing her seminary education, Laura Babbage began working as a hospital chaplain. Currently, she works at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital.
She served as the CEO of Urgent Treatment Centers in Lexington, according to a bio from Eastern Kentucky University.
She also cowrote a book with her brother-in-law Keen Babbage titled “Life Lessons from Cancer.”
Bob Babbage was elected as Kentucky’s state auditor in 1987 and as secretary of state in 1992.
