The Friends of the Kentucky Theatre recently honored Isabel Yates, outgoing chair of the organization, for her leadership in raising money to help restore the Kentucky Theatre.

With Yates at the helm, the group raised more than $615,000 in private funds. With an additional $250,000 given by the city of Lexington, the Kentucky Theatre was brought into the digital age with a new projector and sound system, new seats, fresh paint and other improvements. A plaque recognizing Yates’ hard work is in the lobby of the theater.
