UK police captain delivers baby during campus move-in
A University of Kentucky police captain kicked off campus move-in Wednesday by delivering a baby in an intersection during a rainstorm.
Captain Kevin Franklin, a 32-year veteran with the department, was at the intersection of Cooper Drive and University Drive when a car pulled over with a woman who was in labor, UK Police Chief Joe Monroe said. Franklin, who is also a registered nurse, was able to help deliver the woman’s baby safely.
The mother had the baby quickly after pulling over just after 8 a.m., Monroe said. Both were taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.
