Curtain comes down on classic film series

The Kentucky Theatre’s Summer Classic Series ends its season with “Sunset Boulevard”. The 1950 film will be shown at 1:30 and 7:15 p.m. for a $6 admission. (Kentuckytheater.com)

Best in show

The Bluegrass Classic Dog Show runs through Sept. 5 at the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena with about 150 breeds represented. “Meet the breeds” sessions Saturday and Sunday offer a chance to learn a bit about them. (bgclassic.org)

Winchester trail blazing

The Daniel Boone Pioneer Festival starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday with a street dance in downtown Winchester. The festival, featuring a 5K run, arts and craft vendors and live music, continues through Sunday. (Danielboonepioneerfestival.com)

Fifty-nine breweries will be represented at the Lexington Fest-of-Ales, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cheapside Park. Tickets are $30, pre-sale only and limited to 1,500. They include 20 beer samples and a tasting glass. Food will be available for purchase. Tickets are being sold at Liquor Barn stores, Pazzo’s, The Beer Trappe and Thursday Night Live. Red White and Boom kicks off

The popular three-day country music festival moves from the Fourth of July holiday to Labor Day. Headliners include Eric Church, Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, 207 Legends Ln.
