‘Major wreck’ forces officials to close down a Central Kentucky highway

An accident on I-64 in Franklin County Monday night caused a closure of the interstate, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident happened near mile-marker 58 on I-64 westbound near the bridge, according to the sheriff’s office. WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner, said officials had to pull a car out of a ditch.

The sheriff’s office called the wreck “major.”

The sheriff’s office said the interstate had to be shut down while crews cleaned up the scene. Officials didn’t immediately release details on whether or not anyone suffered injuries.
