Updated: Woman dies in Central Kentucky crash, police say

One person has died after a crash on Wilkinson Boulevard in Frankfort Thursday, according to police.

The crash happened around 6:02 a.m. when a vehicle hit a semi tanker and was lodged under the tank, according to the Frankfort Police Department. An 83-year-old woman was transported to the Frankfort Regional Medical Center after the crash but later died from her injuries, police said.

Police shut the road down for several hours while they investigated the crash.Wilkinson Boulevard was closed in both directions from the Thornhill Bypass at the Owenton Road exit to Reilly Road.

The Frankfort Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team was still investigating the crash Thursday afternoon.
