Man suffers life-threatening injuries after being shot by officer in Central KY

A man suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot Saturday morning by an officer with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police said Saturday.

Two officers from the sheriff’s office responded to a call about a man armed with a knife who was experiencing a mental health crisis, and one of the officers shot the man “during the encounter” at about 7:30 a.m., state police said their preliminary investigation showed.

The man was taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

No officers were hurt. State police did not specify where the shooting happened.

The state police Critical Incident Response Team is investigating.
