No changes found in recanvass of Frankfort mayoral primary
No changes were found Thursday after a recanvass was conducted in the May 22 Frankfort mayoral primary, according to the Franklin County Clerk's Office.
That means third-place finisher Donna Hecker is out of the running. The top two vote-getters in the primary, former mayor Bill May and Kyle Thompson, a former assistant Franklin County attorney, will compete in the Nov. 6 general election.
A recanvass is a common procedure and simply involves rechecking printed vote totals against the figures sent to the state Board of Elections.
The winner of the November election will succeed H. "Gippy" Graham as mayor.
Hecker, 54, thanked those who voted for her and thanked Franklin County Clerk Guy Zeigler's staff for conducting the recanvass.
"I'm satisfied with the results," she said.
